Hungarian Beach Soccer Championship gets underway

Ujhartyan Beach Soccer Team took the first stage with a perfect run of four wins

This weekend, the first stage of the Hungarian Beach Soccer Championship was contested in the brand-new location and stadium in Budakalász at LUPA Beach, just outside the country’s capital of Budapest.

The two-day event took place on Saturday and Sunday (6 and 7 July) and the second round will be on 20 and 21 July. The six best teams after the two rounds will qualify to the final stage, set to be held on the 27 and 28 July, where the champions of Hungary will be crowned.

The competition was fought between eight teams, with Ujhartyan VSE-Falukozpont Beach Soccer Team remaining the only side not to have suffered defeat at the end of the weekend.

A few weeks after participating in the Euro Winners Cup, Goldwin Pluss-Jaszfenysraru came in second place in the opening stage following two wins and two losses, while Grep ESC Gyongyos take third place. However, they played one match less than their top two rivals and will play the extra match in the next stage.

The Top Scorer of the championship so far is Khyzhniak Maksym (Bodon Peter FC) with nine goals.

This year the competition is being organised by MSMN Co. (Hungarian Beach Soccer Management Non-profit Co.) who work with the former organiser, the Hungarian Football Federation.
