Flamengo claim the III Copa Brasil

The rubro-negro beat Sport Recife in the final of the competition, played in Manaus in front of 25.000 souls

The stands in Centro Cultural Povos da Amazonia, in Manaus, were painted in red and black as CR Flamengo claimed the cup in the III edition of the Copa Brasil de Clubes Beach Soccer. A 3-2 extra-time victory over Sport Recife got the carioca the prestigious cup, sanctioned by the Confederação Brasilera de Futebol and involving ten top clubs of Brazil: Associaçao Desportiva Ferroviaria Vale do Rio Doce (ES), Avaí Futebol Clube (SC), Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas (RJ), Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (RJ), Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama (RJ), Esporte Clube Bahia (BA), Fast Clube (AM), Manaus Futebol Clube (MA), Sampaio Correa Futebol Clube (MA) and Sport Club do Recife (PE).

After seeing Sport Recife step ahead, Anderson and Toinho turned the score around fopr the rubro-negro. Edney balanced things back with a 2-2 which would remain until the end of the regular time. With the game heading to the penalty kick shootout, Daniel Zidane fired the winner home for the carioca side, only seconds to the final horn.
