Clinics complement Mundialito success

Various workshops and clinics were held during the recent Mundialito de Clubes in Brazil.

The recently concluded Mundialito de Clubes in Vargem-Grande, Brazil, not only saw top-class beach soccer with eight of the world’s best sides, it offered a unique opportunity for local youngsters to enjoy the sport.

The four-day event ran from Thursday to Sunday, with Russian side Lokomotiv eventually prevailing, although the fun continued after the games stopped each day with beach soccer clinics held following the culmination of the final match.

In total, more than 100 local children and young adults from the nearby Escolinha de Futebol da Prefeitura de Vargem-Grande Paulista were involved, learning new skills on the sand and enjoying the sport as part of a social project by the local Prefeitura.

Representatives from all eight clubs – Lokomotiv, Corinthians, Botafogo, Sporting CP, Flamengo, Pars Jonoubi, Levante and Atletico Rosario Central – were on hand to help out and spread the message of the sport.

Beach Soccer Worldwide’s Head of Competitions, Josep Ponset, said: “It was a real pleasure to be able to help out with the clinics over the past weekend – strengthening beach soccer’s reputation in what is already one of our sport’s real heartlands.

“We’re very grateful to all the players who got involved as well as the local organisers here in Brazil.”
