Claude Le Roy: ?People cannot imagine how skillful Beach Soccer players need to be?

The Oman Footbal National Team Manager, Claude Le Roy, admitted yesterday to be a great beach soccer fan, and he missed not the chance of enjoying it live from at the Al Musannah Beach Stadium. The Frenchman could witness the victory of their sand homologues in their game yesterday against Kuwait, right afterwards attending the UAE-Qatar. He also proved to be aware of the latest news regarding the Omani Beach Soccer National team: “I know they are a really good team, one of the best in Asia, and they recently won the Gulf Cup. They are doing a great job”. The emphatic win by Talib’s side over the Kuwaiti side would confirm he was true later on.

Indeed, since many years ago, Le Roy tries not to miss the Beach Soccer fixtures shot on TV, or the ones being played near Muscat, where he lives now. The international coach assured he has followed Beach Soccer “since its first years, and I became a real fan with Cantona’s France, with their FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup victory in Rio de Janeiro”.

Le Roy not only appreciates our sport as a spectator. He highly values it as a football expert, too. And these are big words when talking about a coach with more than 30 years of international experience… “It is really difficult to play beach soccer. People cannot imagine how skillful do Beach Soccer players need to be. It is really technique demanding sport, besides the great fitness you need to have to move on the sand, of course…

Precisely under these premises, Le Roy is another one of the coaches who likes to take the best advantage of what beach training can provide: “I have been taking the National Football Team players to the beach for training, because it is a great exercise. And we had experienced how difficult it is to play on the sand, and how tough it is to run, to jump, to move, etc.
