BSC IGOL defend title in Lithuania

Lithuanian title decided as BSC IGOL dominate the league

It was another successful year for BSC IGOL in the Lithuanian league, where they fought through the various stages to seal a spot in the 2019 Euro Winners Cup.

Eight teams competed in the 2018 edition of the Lithuanian Beach Soccer Championship, also known as “Stiklita”. The teams were organised into two groups where they played in a Round Robin system to decide the two strongest sides, who would then go into Group A to fight for the medal.

The other teams would go into Group B and battle it out for a 5th – 8th place finish. BSC IGOL, one of the league’s four teams from the country capital, Vilnius, breezed through their games with their highly experienced players proving too much for their rivals.

A rise in the interest in beach soccer in Lithuania has seen a number of new beach soccer pitches spring up in the country, and the league was a perfect opportunity to test out the new facilities.

Yet more positive signs that the sport of beach soccer is on the rise across the world.
