Brazil retain South American crown in Rio

Uruguay 2nd best against Brazil in CONMEBOL final but qualify to FIFA World Cup

Gilberto’s Brazilians once again cruised to retain the South American crown with a 10-1 win over Uruguay in the final of the CONMEBOL Eliminatorias Mundial FIFA Fútbol Playa Brasil 2019.

However, the defeat was easier to take for the Charrúa, due to the fact that they had already qualified for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay, in making it to the final, something which they hadn’t done for ten years!

In the final day of action at the Parque Olímpico de Rio de Janeiro, a Rodrigo hat-trick assisted the hosts in clinically dispatching of their Uruguayan challengers, scoring ten goals as the men in blue managed just one in response.

Paraguay, who will host the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in November, secured third place in the qualifiers after defeating Argentina 6-5 in a play-off.

In the day’s first game, Peru defeated Colombia 6-5 to finish the competition in fifth position of the World Cup qualifier.
