Brazil and Mexico get ahead

CONMEBOL and CONCACAF Champions set the beat in Copa America, after loudly bending USA (12-4) and Argentina (6-2)

Mexico and Brazil banged the door open in their hitting the sand of the Hot Park Stadium, in this first matchday in the Copa America. Both teams bended their opponents loudly (Argentina and the USA respectively) to clinch the first points at stake and place together on top of the table. Now they will exchange opponents for a continent-divided fixtures in the second matchday.

Mexico 6 – 2 Argentina
Mexicans and Argentineans were the first to open fire, with the Azteca showing they are in a really good shape, as they made evident in the Beach Soccer Worldwide Cancun Cup held one month ago in Quintana Roo. López, scorer of two goals today, voiced his team’s satisfaction, explaining that “we have performed in a really good level today. We moved the ball efficiently, did things right and had most of the goal chances. It is really difficult to beat a powerhouse as Argentina with such a result as the one we got today…”. Together with Lopez’s double, another one by Mosco and the help of Plata and Rodríguez made Hilaire’s and Vivas’ efforts absolutely meaningless.

USA 4 – 12 Brazil
The unchallenged champions of the competition, hosts Brazil, left little room for doubt about their efficacy when inflicting a severe punishment over the renewed USA National Team. No trace of mercy in Guga’s lads, after even seeing themselves down in the score after a really solid beginning by Soto’s team. Bruno, scoring his 200th goal for the National team equalized USA’s advantage (Leopoldo), and got things ready for the Brazilian machinery to erase that early malfunction. André, Bruno Xavier, Datinha and Sidney almost finished all their opponents option by making it 5-1.

Reyes cut that distance a bit right before a new Brazilian shower, Andre and Bruno Malias tandemmed to raise things up to 9-2, right before Buru and Datinha widened the gap even further for the 11-2 by mid third period. Brazil had already secured the points, and despite Leopoldo raised his voice again Souza silenced him again before Gil could bag the last for the North American.
