Best Player of the Year: The Nominees

Gabriele Gori (ITA) Jordan (POR) and Rodrigo (BRA) are the candidates to be crowned as the best

The three players lined up to become the Llorenç’s successor as the Best Player in the world have finally been revealed: Gabriele Gori, from Italy, Jordan Santos, from Portugal and Rodrigo Soares, from Brazil are the nominees for the award.

It will be the second nomination for Italian striker Gabriele Gori, following his nomination on 2016, where the Best Player of the world award finally went to Brazil’s Bruno Xavier.

In turn, it will be the first time that both Jordan Santos and Rodrigo are in the running. Jordan has lead a magnificent season with Portugal, claiming the Euro Beach Soccer League and winning the Gold Medal at the European Games in Minsk,  and also with Sporting Clube de Braga, winning both the Mundialito de Clubes and the Euro Winners Cup.

Rodrigo, who has been wearing Brazil’s captain armband lately, was one of the key men in Gilberto’s side acquisition of the Gold Medal at the World Beach Games held in Qatar this week.

These are the previous winners of the Best Player of the Year award:

2014 – Leonov (RUS)

2015 – Madjer (POR)

2016 – Bruno Xavier (BRA)

2017 – Mauricinho (BRA)

2018 – Llorenç (ESP)

Who will be crowned in 2019? We’ll have to wait until the 9th of November to find out…

It is worth remembering that the nominees have been shortlisted following the votes by the captains and coaches of all the national teams.
