Beach Soccer development does not flag

FIFA Courses in Mautitius, Morocco and Poland, and a Beach Soccer school set up in Solomon Islands push the sport on

The growth and empowering of Beach Soccer does not stop. Many activities around the world have been happening during the last weeks, in the framework of the sports development and its grassroots  boosting. Last month, to begin with, Solomon Islands inaugurated a Beach Soccer School of Excellence, set up at the DC Park beach soccer pitch near the capital Honiara. The school targets children between the ages of 6 and 12, and will allow stars from the national beach soccer team to take part in coaching activities. The Beach Soccer National player Gideon Omokirio, member of the Solomon Islands Football federation (SIFF) technical department, is the one in charge of managing this program.

This initiative follows the  FIFA approved Goal project in the Solomon Islands, to establish national futsal and beach soccer academies, with the aim of reaching the international top 10 in the two disciplines by 2018.

In March, FIFA’s beach soccer development activities were held in Mauritius, where referee instructor Lakhdar Benchabane, from France, and island native Eddy Rose led a combined course for referees and coaches by the pristine sands of the Indic Ocean. The Frenchman Benchabane then visited Morocco in May, accompanied by local favourite Mustapha El Haddaoui, to conduct another combined course for referees and coaches in the country’s capital, Casablanca.

In turn, Switzerland National Coach and FIFA instructor Angelo Schirinzi traveled to Poland, where he conducted a course for beach soccer coaches, the third the Polish FA had hosted in the last three years.

Upcoming FIFA’s development activities will have courses happening in Costa Rica, Tunisia and Ghana, where it will stage training courses for beach soccer coaches.
