After seeing how beach soccer has been achieving new steps, opening new doors, and sealing new alliances in this past 2018, it is time to get ready to enjoy the thrilling 2019 we have ahead of us.
And I say so because we are at the doors of the most busy and exciting year in the history of beach soccer. And this is something that we have said before, what means that the sport has the capacity to keep on growing, with new competitions, new boundaries with the world’s prime sports organisations: FIFA, UEFA, ANOC, keep trusting in beach soccer in a sincere way.
In this 2019, we will not only experience a new FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, with the recently announced tenth edition flying to Asunción in Paraguay, but we will also be enjoying a year of excitement with the continental qualifiers giving the 16 chosen teams the chance to participate.
To walk this road, we are happy to have UEFA fully embracing beach soccer, and taking an active part in the organisation of the European Qualifier this coming summer, another major step for the sport.
This 2019, we will also be playing again a key part in the Olympic movement, as beach soccer will be again the FIFA family representative in the second European Games, happening in Minsk. The role the sport played in the first edition, held in Baku in 2015, was just awesome, and we are ready to rock it again in the Belarusian capital this coming June.
Besides that, we will all be enjoying the first ever World Beach Games, a multi sport festival right where we like them to be, dipping our feet on the sand. Beach Soccer will become one of the main attractions of the maiden edition of this huge event, taking place in San Diego, California.
This season will also mean a new increase in the participation of Women in top-flight competitions, some of the main objectives we are working so hard for. This season will see women taking part in, at least, five elite events, what confirms the evolution of the women’s game!
All this, without forgetting all the regular competitions that year after year backbone the beach soccer season: The XXIInd Euro Beach Soccer League, Euro Winner’s Cup, Women’s Euro Beach Soccer Cup…
So, you’d better be ready, because what is coming next will leave us all without breath!
