Santos and Barça virtually touch Quarterfinals

With Lokomotiv with 6 points too, a breath-taking last league round day will point the teams getting into next round

FC Barcelona virtually makes it to next round after brilliant display

FC Barcelona clinched their sixth points today in an amusing Beach Soccer spectacle. Not even the uncomfortable rain that fell down over the Arena the Guarapiranga played down a bit of the solvency of Amarelle-steered side’s win. Goal after goal, in a match featuring up to 15 hits, the ‘blaugrana’ bent hosts São Paulo to secure a place in next round.

The Catalan side hit twice at the game’s opening, but Allann kept his team on the pursuit, even after Cristian Torres’ 3-1, and it was not until mid second period that Eremeev would restore the two-goal gap to make his teammates feel a bit more relieved.

First minutes of last leg were a real goal festival. But even after this, FC Barcelona got even strengthened, as Sao Paulo could not take advantage of such a frenzy stage to mix things up. Instead, the Catalan side managed to keep the control of the game despite seeing their opponents come closer and, with Rui Mota’s hit for the 8-5, they began realizing that the game was theirs. Shishin and Eremeev latter whips confirmed that end, and rounded a very convincing victory for the ‘blaugrana’ squad.

Goals: 1-0: Cristian T.; 2-0: Shishin, min. 8 (1); 2-1: Allann, min. 7 (1); 3-1: Cristian T., min. 9 (2); 3-2: Allann, min. 8 (2); 4-2: Eremeev, min. 8 (2); 5-2: Cristian T., min. 10 (3); 6-2: Rui Mota, min. 10 (3); 6-3: Allann, min. 10 (3); 6-4: Pikinha, min. 9 (3); 7-4: Shishin, min. 8 (3); 7-5: Pikinha, min. 8 (3); 8-5: Bruno Torres, min. 5 (3); 9-5: Shishin, min. 4(3); 10-5: Eremeev, min. 2 (3)

Vasco stands up again after bitter beginning

Vasco secured a very hard-fought win over Boca Juniors to snatch their first three points in the competition. After an imposing take off in the game, Rodrigo’s side would not let their opponents reply strongly enough, and now they depend only on themselves to make it to quarterfinals. There was much at stake at the sand of Guarapiranga, and it was necessarily felt before, during and after the match.

The sooner the better, Vasco needed to collect themselves after being severely brought down by Santos in their first game in this II Mundialito de Clubes. The Gigante da Colina, current champions of the tournament, could not afford missing any chance if they wanted to keep the possibilities of making it to quarterfinals at their hands. With this idea in mind, the carioca side rolled over Boca Juniors in the first period, with Bruno Xavier and Mauricinho having things very favourable for their side. A 1-5 at the end of the first leg was something that would help them see the rest of the game with a lot more ease.

But that was not Boca’s plans, and the Argentinean, all breed, tried to come back. Dinho and Franceschini began the pursuit before the end of the third period, but the Xeneize reaction could not get further. Seconds were ticking down for Vasco, and there was no way Boca could do any harm on Salgueiro’s dominions. With the final whistle, things get tighter in Group A, where anything can happen in the last league matchday.

Goals: 0-1: Bruno Xavier, min. 11 (1); 0-2: Bruno Xavier, min. 11 (1); 0-3: Mauricinho, min. 10 (1); 1-3: Larreta, min. 2 (1); 1-4: Mauricinho, min. (1); 1-5: Bruno Xavier, min. 1 (1); 2-5: Dinho, min. 10 (2); 3-5: Franceschini, min. 2 (2)

International duo seal first win for Flamengo

Brazilian International player, Everaldo Souza, was the key element for Flamengo to achieve their first win in the Mundialito de Clubes Beach Soccer. With three goals, and supported by Anderson’s fourth, the hefty defender’s merits were more than enough for his side to seal the victory over Seattle, something they needed after their defeat against Barcelona in the tournament’s opening.

When Ali Karim got an early reply to Souza’s opener, it seemed that it was going to be a tough match for the ‘rubronegro’, but Vilela’s squad managed to get things more easy with a mortal last minutes to that first period, in which three more goals left the score 4-1 up.

Seattle tried harder from that moment on, but they could not find the inspiration they needed to counteract a solid, experienced defense like the one banking on by Flamengo. Players such as the aforementioned Souza, Anderson, Pampero or Casé are really hard to get past, and this is precisely where the carioca side laid their foundations on. With the final whistle, Flamengo follows FC Barcelona’s tracks, with three points, the same as Seattle, who will need results on their side tomorrow if they want to see themselves on the next round.

Goals: 1-0: Souza, min. 11 (1);  1-1: Ali Karim, min. 9 (1); 2-1: Souza, min. 4 (1); 3-1: Souza, min. 3 (1); Anderson, min. 1 (1)

Doubles by Kuman, Lekão and Bruno get Santos through

Santos became the third team to secure their berth in quarterfinals after beating AC Milan in the last match of the third matchday of the Mundialito de Clubes Beach Soccer. The Peixe team lead a bright reaction after seeing themselves down at the score after first period. But the restyled paulista side, again with a key role by some of their new players, displayed excellent beachsoccering to go through to next round.

AC Milan needed to get rid of the bad taste of their defeat to Boca Juniors in their debut fixture. Meier began scaffolding a victory they absolutely needed to forget about the calculator at the last league matchday, but little after the first break, Lekão equalized things back.

The bad news for the ‘rossoneri’ were that this was just the beginning of the Santos reaction, as Kuman and Bruno would make it 4-1 by mid third period. François cut the distance, but the control was at that point at Peixe’s hands, as Lekão and Kuman finished all Italian options with the 6-2. Ramacciotti’s last hit, with just eight seconds to go, was not meaningful enough.

Goals: 0-1: Meier, min. 2 (1); 1-1: Lekao, min. 8 (2); 2-1: Kuman, min. 0 (2); 3-1: Bruno, min. 8 (3); 4-1: Bruno, min. 7 (3); 4-2: François, min. 2 (3); 5-2: Lekao, min. 2 (3); 6-2: Kuman, min. 1 (3); 6-3: Ramacciotti, min. 0 (3)
