Current EBSL Champion and Runner ups clinch the first title of the season (Groups 1 and 2) as Belarus rules in Division B
Extra time winner by Ziober gets Poland second in Group 2
Goals kept being the common denominator in the match facing Poland and Romania, decided after a terrific free kick attempt by Ziober in the last minute od the extra time. This victory on the additional leg gave Poland their fourth points and secures at least one thing: No one will snatch them the second place in group B, as the team losing the Italy-Switzerland will be left with three points, below Saganowski’s side.
Precisely the Polish number eight was the one to sweep his team in front, just some seconds after kick-off. But that advantage would soon be neutralized by I. Poste. The game was terrifically balanced, and a whole period went by before any of the teams hit his opponent’s nets again. It was the second Poste twin, Marian, who got Romania ahead for the first time, only to find, though, Saganowski’s second hit for the 2-2.
The third period seemed the definitive take-off by the Carpathian side, with Poste and Maci having the score 4-2. But Poland have not had their las say yet, and Ziober and Wydmuszeck’s hits sent the game to extra time. That three minutes meant room enough for a lot of things to happen, with up to three goals that got Poland in command twice again. The latter of these, thanks to Ziober’s perfect aim in a free kick, was the definitive one. These four points achieved by Poland practically secure them not having big annoyance in skipping the Promotion Final, at the same times gets things really well for them to get into the EBSL Superfinal.

Amarelle rescue last points for Spain from the penalty-kick spot
Spain captured the last points at stake in Group 1 of this opening Euro Beach Soccer League Terracina 2012, after beating France at the penalty kick shoot-out. Leaving The Terracina Beach Stadium with no points on your record was something too dangerous to do, as it gets you too close to the Promotion Final, undergoing the risk of losing the top-flight license.
France wanted to get soon as far as possible from seeing themselves in the fight for relegation for a third consecutive year, and lead a really intensely-paced first stage of the game, achieving a significant advantage thanks to Basquaise, Mendy and Pagis. The 4-1 turned into a very secure floor to stand on, but Spain, who had been given great signs of improvement since the beginning of the weekend, made it shake, turning the score around and having things 4-5 to their benefit after Amarelle’s and Javi Torres’ contribution. Unfortunately for them, the 0-4 run lost all its value, or at least most of it, when Samoun took advantage of a rebound to tap the 5-5 in and send the game into extra time.
Spain enjoyed the best chances during the extra three minutes, but the score remain untouched in that additional three minutes, so, for the first and only time in the tournament, the penalty kick shootout was the only way to decide who got the points. Pagis took the first for Les Bleus, and saw his attempt go wide over Cristian’s crossbar, a circumstance Amarelle would take best advantage of by sending the ball to the back of the net and giving his team the third place in group 1.

Stankovic makes Switzerland champions of the EBSL Terracina (Group 2) after upsetting hosts Italy
After the great evening enjoyed yesterday, everyone was willing for the party to continue at the Terracina Beach Soccer Stadium. Everyone, but the Swiss, who had nothing else in their minds than breaking the bank and bagging the cup of this Euro Beach Soccer League stage Italy is hosting at Terracina. One name outstood over the rest in this match, and it was none else than Dejan Stankovic, whose three goals, together with Samuels’s, were enough to edge the Azzurri in the match deciding the first winner in the Euro Beach Soccer League.
The Italian crowd brought, again, an unforgettable atmosphere, with the stadium absolutely full long before the beginning of the game. Their devotion and determination were key once again to help Esposito’s side open the score, thanks to Gori. But the amusing growth in the Swiss performance, who began losing to Romania and ended clinching the Cup in the stage, was further proved and brought Schirinzi’s team to counteract this early slap and build a solid victory which got harder to reply minute after minute.
All breed, Italy kept fighting against the wind, and also against an inspired Stankovic who hit once and again until leaving the score 1-4. Before that, Italy had been trying everything, but the posts and Valentin denied them any possibility to get closer. Only a last minute penalty-kick sent in by tournament’s MVP and Top Scorer, Paolo Palmacci, found a part of the success more than 3.000 people were willing for….

One goal maintains status quo: Russia keeps winning
Russia seem determined to win every single tournament they take part in, and Likhachev’s side kept on their triumphal march in the Euro Beach Soccer League Terracina 2012, where they were the only team to win all their games. This time, the difference was really negligible against Portugal, in a match where defenders ruled over attackers.
Indeed, just one goal decided the winner of this first stage of the European League. And it was the one achieved by Bukhlitskiy, awarded as the Best Goalkeeper of the event. That meant the definitive turning point of the game, although it was just the seventh minute of the game…
After that moment, Russia suffered the relentless pressure from the Portuguese talented forwards, but the defensive spider web set by the defending champions worked perfectly fine. When it did not, though, there was ‘Bukha’ to solve the problem for his team. No matter how hard they tried, Ze Miguel’s lads found all doors closed as the minutes kept going by. All the Portuguese attempts found an impossible barrier to avoid, and the Cup ended up in Russian hands again, thus extending the hierarchy of a team with very few, if any, weak points.

DIVISION B
Goal average gets Belarus the Cup in Division B
Despite the Czech Republic ended up bagging the points, Belarus claimed the Cup in this opening Euro Beach Soccer League 2012 stage in Division B. The Belarusian best figures got them to the highest place of the table after the triple tie with Czech Republic and Hungary, mainly thanks to the loud victory over the latter (3-9) in the first game of the competition.
Only a 6-goal-difference win by the Czechs would have got them to the Cup, but first objective by the Belarusian was not to let that happen, rather than heading for their opponent’s goal. Lukic’s side managed a 2-0 during the first period, and that triggered the Belarusian alarms. Bogaichuk’s team tightened then their defensive system and would never let their opponents find their nets again, thus securing their goal average records remain the best of the group.

In the first match of the day, Hungary managed an even more fruitless over Norway. The solid performance by the Magyar granted them the chance to equal the 6 points record, but the goal average they had managed so far was far not enough to fight for the first place should a triple tie happen. And this was exactly what was to happen…
