Quarterfinals defined in Euro Winners Cup

Lokomotiv, Terracina, Goldwin, Grasshopper, Besiktas, Bate Borisov, Grembach Lodz and Griffin to compete in next round

Bate Borisov (BLR) bomb Egmond (NED) to get best-second ticket

Bate Borisov got into quarterfinals of this Euro Winners Cup after inflicting Egmond Beach Soccer a heavy defeat.  Before hitting the sand of the San Benedetto Beach stadium today, the Belarusian knew that they needed a wide win if they wanted to have relevant chances to become one of the best second-ranked teams in the competition. And they quickly got their hands (or better, their feet) in doing so. Just one ball hit Egmond?s back of the net in the first period, but after the break, the Belarusian assault got truly intense, and the Dutch goal was severely punished. The final 9-1 gets Bate Borisov into quarterfinals as one of the three best second-ranked teams.

Goals: 1-0: Haiduk, min. (1); 2-0: Olli, min. 11 (2); 3-0: Miranovich, min. 8 (2); 4-0: Yakubovsky, min. 7 (2); 5-0: Olli, min. 11 (3); 6-0: Yakubovsky, min. 8 (3); 7-0: Bogaichuk, min. 7 (3); 8-0: Miranovich, min. 6 (3); 9-0: Zheckho, min. 1 (3); 9-1: Ruder, min. 1 (3)

Goldwin Pluss (HUN) storm into quarterfinals

Hungarian Champions Goldwin Pluss run past Greek Homologues AO Kefallinia to access quarterfinals as the head of group C. After Paris opener?s for the Hellenic, it was difficult to foresee the final outcome of the game, with the Magyar achieving such a blunt win. Ali Karim?s equalizer opened the door to a 7-0 run that made things impossible for Kefallinia, who could only react with Plexidas? 7-2 when the time was almost over. The loud defeat, sends the Greek side home, and helps Bate Borisov take their chances to jump onto next round from the second place of the group.

Goals: 0-1: Paris, min. 6 (1); 1-1: Ali Karim, min. 2 (1); 2-1: Szalanczi, min. 8 (2); 3-1: Vernyik, min. 3 (2); 4-1: V. Fekete, min. 11 (3); 5-1: Besenyei, min. 8 (3); 6-1: T. Fekete, min. 4 (3); 7-1: Besenyei, min. 1 (3); 7-2: Plexidas, min. 0 (3);

Besiktas JK (TUR) thrash Montredon Benneveine (FRA) and top group B

Merciless Besiktas secured their position at the top of the table in group B after a tyrannical beach soccer display over Montredon Bonneveine. The French, who were fighting to ear three more points that could have them struggling with the rest of the sides to be one of the best second-ranked sides, were quickly left with no option at all. A 0-5 run in the first two periods already set clear whose hands the points were travelling. Quaziz pulled one back for the helpless French side, but the Black Eagles kept flying strong to the next round, scoring five more goals every time their opponents dared to net one. With this result, Besiktas join the best teams in the Euro Winners Cup.

Goals: 0-1: Bariç, min. 8 (1); 0-2: Metin, min. 4 (1); 0-3: Onur, min. 3 (1); 0-4: Onur, min. 3 (1); 0-5: Leo, min. 2 (1); 1-5: Quaziz, min. 4 (2); 1-6: Bariç, min. 10 (3); 1-7: Ayhan, min. 7 (3); 1-8: Ayhan, min. 6 (3); 2-8: De Santi, min. 2 (3); 2-9: Ayhan, min. 1 (3); 2-10: Tamer, min. 0 (3);

Os Belenenses (POR) bends Lexmax (MDA) but does not get amongst the three best-seconds

Os Belenenses will regret having loosen their defense after being consistently in the lead against Lexmax. A brilliant and prolific performance during the first stages seemed to be rocketing the Lisbon-based side to quarterfinals, but the Moldovan reaction in the third leg, in which they lead a 4-0, changed things drastically. What began being a +6 goal average turned into a +2… Meier could add one goal to the final advantage for the Lusitanian squad, but that was not enough to overcome the records by Bate Borisov, Terracina and Griffin, who went on as the three best second ranked sides.

Goals: 0-1: Rui Coimbra, min. 11 (1); 0-2: José Maria, min. 10 (1); 0-3: Tavares, min. 7 (1); 0-4: Lungu (og), min. 6 (1); 0-5: Jordan, min. 5 (1); 0-6: Jordan, min. 5 (2); 0-7: Santana, min. 5 (2); 1-7: Vicolas, min. 1 (2); 1-8: Meier, min. 0 (2); 2-8: Miron, min. 11 (3); 3-8: Negara, min. 11 (3); 4-8: Negara, min. 6 (3); 5-8: Negara, min. 4 (3); 5-9: José Maria, min. 0 (3)

Last breath winner against Viareggio (ITA) gets Griffin (UKR) on quarterfinals

A last breath winner captured by captain Panteleichuk got Griffin onto the next round, with three points that helped them become one of the best second-ranked sides in the competition. After consolidating a solid advantage in the first two periods, the Ukrainians were caugh by surprise by the amusing reaction by Viareggio, who came back from 4-1 to 4-4.

Di Palma?s missile in the last minute seemed to be sending the match into extra time, what, by the way, would have both teams out of the next round. But in the game?s last seconds, Panteleichuk tapped in a ball refused by the Viareggio goalkeeper to seal the access to quarterfinals for Griffin.

Goals: 0-1: Valenti, min. 10 (1); 1-1: Eremeev, min. 4 (1); 2-1: Borsuk A., min 0 (1); 3-1: Panteleichuk, min. 11 (2); 4-1: Borsuk A., min. 7 (2); 4-2: Ramacciotti, min. 7 (2); 4-3: Gori, min. 2 (2); 4-4: Valenti, min. 1 (2); 5-4: Borsuk I., min. 3 (3); 5-5: Di Palma, min. 0 (3); 6-5: Panteleichuk, min. 0 (3);

Grasshopper (SUI) seal win in the third period against surprising Sandown (ENG) to get amongst the best eight

Sandown Sociedad brought a really uncomfortable afternoon for one of the favourites to the cup, Grasshopper Club Zurich, in the last round-robin competition day in the Euro Winners Cup. Only a boisterous third period, in which the Alpine scored six goals without conceding any, got Stankovic?s side the key to the quarterfinals.

The English side caught Grasshopper by surprise in the first minutes of the game. Morris swept Sandown ahead, with Collins to follow for the 0-2. The Zurich-based squad reacted before it was too late, and turned the score around with three goals in four minutes. But that was not the end of the match for Sandown, who not only did not lose face to the game, but even brought on a really uncomfortable second period for the Swiss side. Six more goals by Kerr?s lads during the second leg got them 6-7 ahead, proving they were ready to fight.

But that balanced struggle came to an end as the third time began? In the last stage of the game, Grasshopper led an stunning 6-0 run to finish the game and clinch the three points at stake. With the final 12-7, Grasshopper secures the head of the group and, consequently, earns berth in the quarterfinals round of this Euro Winners Cup.

Goals: 0-1: Morris, min. 9 (1); 0-2: L. Collins, min. 4 (1); 1-2: Amarelle, min. 2 (1); 2-2: Stankovic, min. 1 (1); Nico, min. 10 (2); 3-3: Corbett, min. 9 (2); 3-4: Morris, min. 5 (2); 3-5: Corbett, min. 7 (2); 4-5: Amarelle, min. 3 (2); 4-6: Morris, min. 3 (2); 5-6: Nico, min. 1 (1); 6-6: Nico, min. 0 (1); 6-7: Giancovich, min. 0 (2); 7-7: Spacca, min. 11 (3); 8-7: Stankovic, min. 10 (3); 9-7: Stankovic, min. 8 (3); 10-7: Spacca, min. 7 (3); 11-7: Salpeter, min. 3 (3); 12-7: Salpeter, min. 1 (3).

Baku (AZE) seize the points in extra time

The Azeri champions, Baku FC, bid farewell to this Euro Winners Cup clinching two points in their game against Kreiss. The Latvian side was finally denied the prize they had terribly struggled for, coming back from a 2-4 down with just three minutes to go. Jakolevs? 4-4 in the last breath of the game sent the match to extra time, and, just when it seemed that the penalty shootout was the only way out to the fight, Abdul fired the 4-5 home for the Azeri. Notwithstanding, the victory does not mean the go-through for Hatamov?s side, as the two defeats so far had already left them with no option.

Goals: 0-1: Vagif, min. 10 (1); 0-2: Ramil, min. 6 (1); 0-3: Ramil, min. 11 (2); 1-3: Travkins, min. 8 (2); 2-3: Jakolevs, min. 3 (3); 2-4: Abdul, min. 2 (3); 3-4: Valijevs, min. 1 (3); 4-4: Jacolevs, min. 0 (3); 4-5: Abdul, min. 0 (3)

Grembach Lodz (POL) get to quarterfinals, Terracina (ITA) to follow as one of best second-ranked

Grembach Lodz seized the first place in Group E after a narrow win over ASD Terracina. The Polish champions put the Italian representation into a serious danger, as after Viareggio?s and Sambenedettese?s elimination, the Puntini were the only transalpine side with chances to get onto next round. Before the beginning of the match, indeed, they were topping the table, but it was today?s battle the one passing final sentence, and, for some minutes after the 0-3 run by the Saganowski-steered side, current Serie A champions were eventually out. But the team brilliantly reacted to level things back in the second period.

Grembach would take the control again in the last period, and, despite Frainetti?s new equalizer, would finally clinch the points thanks to Olejniczack?s free-kick torpedo meaning the 4-5. Fortunately for the Italian, though, the goal record achieved so far let them be one of the best second-ranked sides, thus earning a berth in the quarterfinals of the competition, too.

Goals; 0-1: Mordon, min. 7 (1); 0-2: Saganowski, min. 11 (2); 0-3: Widzicki, min. 7 (2); 1-3: Corosiniti, min. 3 (2); 2-3: Llorenç, min. 2 (2); 3-3: M. Oleilla, min. 1 (2); 3-4: Ziober, min. 10 (3); 4-4: Frainetti, min. 6 (3); 4-5: Olejniczak, min. 5 (3);

Penalty kick first win for Gimnàstic (ESP)

Nàstic de Tarragona closed their spell at the Euro Winners cup with a sweet memory. The Catalan side beat Israeli Falfala Kfar Qassem at the penalty shootout after two unbelievable last-second equalizers.

After two leveled first two periods, the Israeli champions netted two goals to get a 3-1 advantage midway third leg. Clock was ticking down and it seemed Falfala Kfar Qassem was bagging the last three points, but along came Frutos, with a halfway line missile to fire the equalizer home. Again in the extra time, the Israeli seemed to have finished the job, but once again, the mighty Catalans pulled one back to level the score one more time and send the game to the 9-meter decider. And there, Morros sealead for them the first points in the competition.

Goals: 1-0: Abd Salook, min. 10 (2); 1-1: Parés, min. 4 (2); 2-1: Daniel, min. 11 (3); 3-1: Badir, min. 8 (3); 3-2: Frutos, min. 6 (3); 3-3: Frutos, min. 0 (3); 4-3: Daniel, min. 2 (et); 4-4: Parés, min 1 (et)

Penalty kick shootout: Morros, in; Noor, out.

Sambenedettese?s comeback falls one goal short

Lokomotiv was the last team to join the quarterfinals, after their narrow win over hosts Sambenedettese. The Mundialito Champions imposed an intense pace as of kick-off, and that got them quickly commanding the score, and widening the distance to a loud 0-5.

Despite everything seemed already decided, beach soccer is just a different sport and Sambenedettese found their way back to the game. With four goals in the last period, the hosts came close to level the score, but their amusing recovery fell one hit short, and the final 4-5 for Lokomotiv sends the Muscovite to quarterfinals and closes the doors to next round for the Italians.

Goals: 0-1: Makarov, min. 9 (1); 0-2: Shkarin, min. 4 (1); 0-3: Shkarin, min. 2 (1); 0-4: Makarov, min. 10 (2); 0-5: Shaykov, min. 4 (2); 1-5: Tavares, min. 11 (3); 2-5: Shaykov, min. 3 (3); 3-5: Soria, min. 1 (3); 4-5: Soria, min. 0 (3);
