Puerto Vallarta to host CONCACAF Qualifier for third consecutive year

Mexican city renews the agreement with Beach Soccer Worldwide and will organize the event 1-5 December, 2010

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Mr. Joan Cusco, BSWW vice-president and Gabriel Igartua, Director of Puerto Vallarta Fideicomiso de Turismo, closed today the agreement that confirms the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 CONCACAF Qualifier will return to Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta for the third time.
The event will be this time organized December 1-5, and the expectations are to continue improving the quality of the event with the know-how and the experience gained over these last years. It is still early to confirm which will be the teams participating in the event, but other than hosts Mexico organizers will do its best to secure the best participation ever. In 2009, 6 teams participated, welcoming Bahamas as a newcomer, so organizers expect to have 8 this time. “Beach soccer activity in North, Central America and Caribbean is rising. We constantly see more and more FAs requesting information and asking for the dates and format of the Qualifier. This can only mean the interest for the sport is growing and we hope to have 8 teams for the first time in a CONCACAF Beach Soccer Qualifier” Josep Ponset, BSWW Head of Competitions said this morning.

Last year El Salvador won the event for the first time, and Costa Rica managed to finish second and secure a slot for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup for the first time, leaving hosts Mexico out, a big disappointment for Ramon Raya’s men.
