Nigeria FA to establish a powerful National League

Following the National Team performances, NFF President, Amaiu Pinnick, announced plans to set up a robust championship

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has revealed that the football federation is planning to launch a robust beach soccer league in the country, in appreciation of the efforts of the Super Sand Eagles in major tournaments across the globe.

Amaju made the revelation while speaking at the finale of the Copa Lagos 2015, on Sunday, after the Nigeria’s representative, the Super Sand Eagles, finished second behind the Ivorien Elephants.

The Supersand Eagles have shown great patriotic fervour and the typical Nigerian spirit over the years, bringing honour to this country a number of times. We appreciate their efforts and state that it has not gone unnoticed, as the NFF has commenced arrangements in earnest for the launch of a vibrant Beach Soccer League in the country. Our administration is seeking to develop Nigeria football all round. Beach Soccer is an integral part of the game and we have to pay quality attention to it as well,” Pinnick said.

The Super Sand Eagles, who lost to Cote d’Ivoire 3-6 on the opening day, before defeating England 8-6 and Lebanon 7-4 in consecutive days, are on record to have won the first three editions of the Copa Lagos Invitational Beach Soccer Tournament, before finishing as runners-up to Cote d’Ivoire last year and this year.
