Narciso: “The level of the competition has grown a lot”

The Portuguese National coach, who has been in Catania from the beginning of the competition, highlights the category of the teams

World Champion’s National coach, Mario Narciso, has spent this whole week thoroughly analysing all the matches in this Euro Winners Cup. Always wanting to improve, learn from what he sees and understanding new perspectives of the game, Narciso has spent hours and hours in Catania, not missing a single detail from the games.

His evaluation of the games is highly positive: “I have seen many teams with a great quality, way above the average. You can easily see that beach soccer is developing, especially because you see here many different tactical approaches”.

The steadiness and preparation of the teams is something that has also surprised the Portugues National Coach: “Teams have been training hard for this, and the outcome is on the sand. I have witnessed many well-trained tactical positioning and moves, as well as set-pieces strategy”.

Most of the teams have got here in a great physical condition, as well. They are doing good to the sport, they are continually raising the level.”

Regarding the players he coaches, the Portuguese internationals, he said that “we have Portuguese players in many different teams (Besides most of the Braga players, Madjer and Ricardinho with Alanyaspor, Jordan with Catania,…) . Unfortunately, not all can win, but it is really good that they are all here, competing”.

Despite knowing thousands of players around the world, there was still room for surprise for the Portuguese National coach: “I saw a lot of great players here, but there were some that highly surprised me, specially Bernardo Botelho and Eduard Suárez. I had seen Edu in some games with Spain, but he has grown a lot lately, and Bernardo is an excellent player. World-class payer”.
