My perfect 5

by Ramiro Amarelle

Ramiro Amarelle is, without a doubt, one of the best players in the history of beach soccer. After hundreds of games with the Spanish National side, the beach soccer maestro will be analysing the game for FIFA as a part of the Technical study group. Ahead of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Amarelle chooses what would be his dream beach soccer team:

Roberto Valeiro (ESP): He is the best goalkeeper I have ever seen, and I was lucky enough top lay alongside him for most of our career. He is the most complete goalkeeper, the one with biggest skills, both physical, technical and tactical.

Buru (BRA): Buru is that kind of player almost impossible to get past, only to terrifically dangerous when coming to attack one second afterwards. Physically, he was a true beast, and he also had a great tactical intelligence and an exquisite touch. His performance in the 2007 World Cup was just stunning.

Nenem (BRA): An unstoppable goalscorer. He is the most prolific striker ever in the history of the Brazil National Team. He could come up with a goal from almost any move, and I will not forget the fear he inflicted in the opponent’s defence. You could never lose sight of him…

Benjamin (BRA): I cannot think about the best of the best without thinking about him. He did everything well, he mastered all facets of the game, and watching him play was a true gift. Not in vain, he won more than 300 caps for Brazil, which is something quite big to say.

Madjer (POR): His goal records speak for themselves. He is one of the biggest names ever in beach soccer, a person whose contribution to the game cannot be thanked enough. We have been opponents for almost 20 years, but he is also a great friend. He is as good as a player as he is as a human being. A living legend.
