Lokomotiv storm Samara

Muscovite beat hosts Krylia Sovetov in the second stage of the Russian Beach Soccer Championship, held last weekend

Lokomotiv Moscow side beat hosts Krylia Sovetov (4-6) in the second stage of the Russian National Beach Soccer Championship, held this last weekend in Samara. The Muscovite side, shaped by the core of the Russian National team together with stars such as Stankovic in this last leg, got rid of the bad taste in their mouth after Strogino left them without the honours in the first leg, played two weeks ago in Moscow. The role of the Swiss bomber was indeed very relevant, and merited him the MVP award. IBS Saint Petersburg clinched the third position.

The match was a balanced battle between the ever-favourite red side against the expectedly combative hosts. Indeed, the Samara team went 0-2 ahead during the first minutes, and only a determined reaction amended things for Lokomotiv. Second half was not that busy, and only Dejan Stankovic managed to shake the score a bit to leave it 2-3 by the second horn. Last period recovered the thrill and the stroke exchange left the score 4-6, with the Muscovite clinching the top position.

The results of this last matchday were the following:

Final: Krylia Sovetov 4 – 6 Lokomotiv

3rd place match: Strogino 2 – 8 IBS Saint Petersburg

5th place match: Delta 2 – 6 Maina Vira

7th place match: GTS 7 – 5 CSKA Moscow

Individual awards:
