With the National Beach Soccer Championship on the horizon, players and coaches in Panama attended a course with CONCACAF Beach Soccer instructor Francis Farberoff.
Ahead of Panama’s first National Beach Soccer Championship next month, a number of coaches and players from the country have completed a Panamanian Football Federation (FEPAFUT) course led by CONCACAF Beach Soccer instructor and USA assistant coach Francis Farberoff.
Panama is to host its first national championship between May 14th and May 22nd in Macaracos, Los Santos, and, ahead of the showpiece event, several coaches and players gained valuable expertise and advice from former US beach soccer captain Farberoff.
Farberoff – a US legend of four Beach Soccer World Cups – now works as a FIFA and CONCACAF instructor and spent last week teaching players and coaches practical skills for the sand ahead of the championship next month.
“I find it very positive that the federation is organising a nationwide tournament since not all countries do that,” Farberoff explained afterwards.
“In many countries these initiatives are private but here in Panama it comes from the federation. In Panama there is much potential. The players here have the perfect body type for the discipline of beach soccer and if the work continues they can easily reach a World Cup.”
In total 12 teams will feature at the competition across two groups, representing FEPAFUT’s 11 provincial divisions and the San Miguelito District League.
The teams finishing first and second in each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the title to be decided on the tournament’s eighth and final day.
