El Salvador sets up National League

Eight teams will give green light to the championship, which will empower the level of the sport in the country

The Salvadorian Football Association (Federación Salvadoreña de Futbol – FESFUT) is finalizing last details to see the National Beach Soccer Championship kick off later this month. The National Coach, Rudis Gonzalez Gallo, is leading the program, taking care of many different things so as this first edition of the Salvadorian League sees light in the best and most organized possible way.

The competition, set to begin on November the 18th, will face eight teams, each of them coming from a coastal department in the country and split in two groups: San Salvador, La Libertad, Sonsonate and Ahuachapán in the first, and La Paz, Usulután, San Miguel and La Unión in the other. During a whole month, the battle will be fought following a round robin format, plus a semi-final stage and the final in the Costa del Sol to decide the champion.

Needless to say, the competition will raise the level of the surprising Salvadorian Beach Soccer, since the bunch of matches will mean a great opportunity for Rudis Gallo to observe and analyze the new blood he can add to the National Team. Indeed, as the coach himself assured “in this tournament, I am going to see the best players of each department. From each of the groups, 1 and 2, I am going to build a selection of beach footballers, and then I am going to pick the best players of these two teams to join the National Team discipline for some months. They will be  given the chance to become part of the team, and they will increase the competitiveness of the whole squad.”
