Brazil wrap up FIFA training trip

The world champions have spent the last few days at The Home of FIFA in Zurich.

Brazil spent their third and final day training at The Home of FIFA in Zurich on Wednesday as they put in preparations for this weekend’s BSWW Mundialito in Portugal.

Crowned FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup champions in Nassau, The Bahamas, in May, Gilberto Costa’s side have spent the last few days at the home of football’s governing body, training at FIFA’s state-of-the-art facilities while also being given a guided tour of the headquarters and meeting senior figures.

Brazil will defend their Mundialito title in Cascais over Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with head coach Gilberto delighted to be able to prepare in Zurich at FIFA HQ.

“It’s been an amazing experience to train for these few days at The Home of FIFA,” he explained.

“The facilities are incredible and the calm environment we have had here mean we have been able to put in some great work ahead of our trip to Cascais.”

A number of beach soccer teams have been privileged enough to visit FIFA in recent years and most recently, prior to Brazil, The Bahamas spent a number of days there in preparation for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Colin Smith, FIFA’s Competitions Director, added: “It’s fantastic to have Brazil, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup champions, here training with us at the home of FIFA.

“The weather isn’t quite as hot as Brazil but they’re very pleased with the facilities and the quality of the sand so it’s great for them to be here.

“I think [beach soccer offers] a different angle to the sport, we’ve seen the skill level increase from edition to edition and every FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup we see a difference.”

With the beach soccer facility in Zurich getting plenty of use from players across the globe, Beach Soccer Worldwide’s Executive Vice-President Joan Cusco was pleased to see the sport remain a regular fixture at The Home of FIFA.

“For Brazil to be training at FIFA is fantastic for them and fantastic for the sport,” he said.

“To have the world champions here is obviously very special and we hope more and more teams form across the world will be able to enjoy similar experiences in the future.”
