Brazil looks sharp in pre-World Cup friendly

The beach soccer giants were tested by the Hungarians in Budapest in an exhibition match only days before the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

Brazil beat Hungary by a score of 9-4, with goals from Maurice, 2, Bruno Xavier, 2, Rafinha, Fernando DDI, Catarino, Jorginho and Bokinha. The tune-up match took place on the afternoon of Friday, July 3rd in the MLZ Arena in Budapest. This was the first of two friendly matches between the two teams. The matches are serving as preparation for the Brazilian team, who will be in pursuit of their fifth World Championship at the FIFA World Cup Portugal 2015.

 

In the early going, the Brazilians were overwhelming the Golden Team on offense and defense. Three quick goals came from Rafinha and two from Maurice. The scores were good enough to open a solid advantage, however Hungary cut into the lead at the end of the first period, putting the score at 3-1 for La Verde-Amarela going into the first break. Spurred on by the crowd, who flocked to the stadium in large numbers, the Hungarian team did allowed one more goal from the World’s best player, Bruno Xavier, which increased the Brazilian National Team’s lead, but the hosts turned up their energy and in almost an instant, they tied it at 4-4, just minutes before the end of the second period. Though it was Brazil and Fernando DDI who broke the tie at the end of the middle frame to take a 5-4 lead into the final 12 minutes.

 

In the final period, it was Brazil who set the pace and built an even bigger lead with goals from Catarino, Bokinha, Jorginho and Bruno Xavier; with the final goal leaving the score at 9-4 when the final whistle sounded. Brazil will need all the warm-ups they can get as they will be in Group B in Portugal, along with Mexico, Spain, and Iran. The Brazilians first match at the World Cup will be on July 10th against Mexico.
