Brazil hits hard and tops the table in Recife

A 6-1 win over El Salvador has the hosts leading the way in Copa America, with Argentina in the pursuit after bending Mexico (4-2)

Junior Negão had already said it minutes before the beginning of the game: “The time has come for these lads to prove their real value”. And so they did, loudly beating El Salvador 6-1 in the opening matchday of the Copa America Beach Soccer 2014, taking place in Recife (Brazil) this weekend.

With a terribly effective and quick beach soccer the hosts used the goals by Filipe (2), Rafinha, Datinha, Bokinha and Lucão to beat the Cuscatlecos, who could only respond with a shy hit by Elmer. The uncontestable win gets the Verdeamarela on top of the table in Recife, placing them in the best place to reedit the Copa America they clinched just one year ago in Santos.

In the opening of the competition, CONMEBOL rulers Argentina edged Mexico, thanks to the hits by Levi (2), Sirico and López. Despite the Azteca had got ahead in the score on two occasions, both of them after Hugo López’s efforts, the albiceleste strength ended up reigning at the Boa Viagem Beach, and earned the first three points at stake to accompany Brazil at the top of the table of this Copa America Beach Soccer.
