Brazil devours Paraguay in CONMEBOL Qualy

Heavy punishment by the hosts (14-1) as Venezuela got the three points after edging Peru in the competition opening

No trace of mercy showed the current World Champions in their first match in the race to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Ravenna/Italy 2011, in the CONMEBOL Qualifier taking place until August 7th in Rio de Janeiro. The Verdeamarela set as clear as possible that they will not miss the upcoming global showcase to defend their crown, with Paraguay forced to play the victim role. When seeing such a result as the one achieved by Soare’s squad, little can be said to add more information, since the 14-1 speaks for itself.

The brutal offensive power by the hosts crushed the enthusiastic yet in the first period, which they closed 4-0 up. The Paraguayans had tried, however, to fight against that punch, but they were unable to stop the talent torrent they had in front of them. One of the embodiments of this beach soccer sublimity, Bruno scored four goals to become the most valuable player of the game, and lead the lofty beachsoccering by his side, which got better and better as minutes went by and the goal count grew.

Besides Bruno’s poker, doubles by Andre, Buru and Daniel, and hits by Benjami, Jorginho and Sidney, together with an own goal by Zayas, completed the feast.

On the other game of the day, the one opening this CONMEBOL Qualifier, Venezuela hit the sand in Copacabana to clinch the first three points in the Group A. A 5-2 win over Peru help the ‘Vinotinto’ follow the trail by Brazil. Longa, with two goals, Quintero, Monsalve and Romero made for Rey’s and Drago’s efforts fruitless.

This Monday, August 1st, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 – CONMEBOL Qualifier will experience its second matchday, with the following fixtures:

12h – Argentina x Equador
13h15 – Chile x Paraguay
14h30 – Colombia x Uruguay
15h45 – Brazil x Peru
