Argentina begins with key win

Brazil destroys opponent again, Peru today, as Uruguay are surprised by ?rookies? Colombia and Chile edge Paraguay

Argentina 04 vs. 03 Ecuador

Argentina opened their participation in the CONMEBOL Qualifier for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2011 with a tight win over Ecuador (4-3). The Ecuadorians were willing to revenge the defeat that left them out from Dubai 2009 to the Argentineans, but the Albiceleste clinched the victory again, thanks to the hits by Leguizamon, Vivas, Dallera and Franceschini. Although Ecuador was close to equalize the game with the 4-3, the hits by Galego and Bailon (2) were worth little.

Chile 06 vs. 03 Paraguay

In the second game of the second matchday in the Arena Copacabana, Chile bent Paraguay to get in the second place of Group A. Things seemed to be going to be easy for a National team that can boast having beaten the current World Cup Champions in last year’s Copa Latina. Paraguay reached the game yet without having swallowed the painful defeat inflicted by Brazil on the previous day, and the Chileans took advantage of that to quickly get 3-0 ahead.

But the mighty Paraguayans recovered their spirit and fought back to level the score before the first break, letting their opponents know that they were not to give up that easiy, and that what happened against the Verdeamarela was nothing but an accident. The match was tight, and it was not easy for any of the contenders to get to their opponent’s goal. It was not until the last period that Chile recovered the control of the game and sent three goals in to secure their first three points in Rio de Janeiro.

Colombia 03(01)  vs. 03(00) Uruguay

Colombia, making their debut in a CONMEBOL Qualifier, starred the first big surprise of the South American race to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Ravenna/Italy 2011, as beating current runner-ups Urugay at the penalty shootout. The Colombian determination was too hard for the Charrua to bend, finding the yellow reaction to any of their advantaging hits, to end up at the end of the regular time with 3-3 on the score, with Vasquez as the hero for his country with three goals.

In the penalty shootout, Perez was graced with the fortune he had been denied when scoring in his own goal the opener for Uruguay, and snatched the points for his team after Fabian could not send the ball in from the 9 meter spot.

Brazil 13 vs. 1 Peru

In the last match of the day, Brazil performed a new monstrous victory, this time against Peru. The Brazilians may not reach the 14 goals achieved the previous day against Paraguay, but they came really close, with a blunt 13-1. Bruno was again the top scorer of the match, repeating his goal-poker to top the chart with eight goals so far and play a key role in his side’s terrific goal average: 27 goals scored, and only 2 conceded. May their opponents beware: The beast is awake, and hungry…
