The Copa Pílsener, a key date in the beach soccer calendar
by Don Jorge Alberto Cabrera Rajo
Jorge Alberto Cabrera Rajo is President of FESFUT
Once again this Easter, El Salvador and its people get ready to host the Copa Pílsener Fútbol Playa. This competition, which has quickly become one of the key dates in the Beach Soccer Worldwide calendar is nothing else that the true demonstration that thorough work, passionately driven, and confidently performed, leads to success.
From the FESFUT, we proudly witness how the name of our National Team, the name of our country, is today recognized and admired both by beach soccer professionals and supporters alike.
What have we done to achieve something like that? Easy: We have put together our people’s passion, the talent of our sportsmen and sportswomen, and the professionalism of our structure, adding the unparalleled background of our beaches and a first-class permanent stadium in the beautiful Costa del Sol.
This very stadium, it is worth remembering, successfully hosted the biggest ever CONCACAF Qualifier just some months ago. The 16 National teams that took part in the CONCACAF Beach Soccer Championships El Salvador 2015 keep great memories of those days they spent on our land, both for what they experienced inside the pitch and outside it. Despite the party was not fully happy for us, with our Guerreros de Playa being left out of the World Cup, the sensations and images that event projected to the world were just excellent.
With all those elements, El Salvador wants to welcome all the beach soccer lovers in the world, inviting them to actively participate and enjoy this fourth Copa Pílsener. The competition will of course bank on the strongest teams in the international panorama again, including World Cup winners Portugal, to round up a huge spectacle that will leave nobody unsatisfied.
Please be welcome to El Salvador. Be welcome to your home. We are waiting for you to jointly write a new success story in beach soccer.
